This is My Story!

Student | Athlete | Leader

From a young age I’ve always been fascinated with the intricacies of science and technology and how they effortlessly harmonized with my deep appreciation for the arts, literature, and humanities. I’m driven by an unrelenting desire to bridge the gap between these seemingly distinct worlds. However, I aim to balance my academic journey with my love for sports. The lessons I’ve learnt from my experiences as an athlete and coach have helped me grow into the tenacious and resilient individual I am today.

Beginning

6-year-old me was enthralled by the numerous experiences offered in elementary school. Unsure of what truly captivated me, I delved into everything and anything. I pursued a variety of hobbies, whether that was Bharatnatyam (Indian classical dance), building a catapult, writing book reviews, or joining the school’s soccer team.

Academic Passions

In middle and high school, we explored subjects that intrigued us. Some aimed for STEM careers, choosing Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Math. Others embraced humanities, diving into History, English, and Languages. Amid my own uncertainty, watching peers, the idea sparked: why not blend both fields and engage in their disciplines simultaneously?

Synthesis

Striving to harmonize these realms, I opted for a spectrum of subjects: Physics, Economics, Math, History, English, and Spanish. This amalgamation seamlessly wove scientific problem-solving with arts’ creative and critical thought. The cross-disciplinary approach honed my knack for multifaceted solutions to intricate real-world issues, cultivating innovation and empathetic depth.

Athletic Passions

Starting soccer at 7 and entering my first tournament at 9, I discovered my passion through team dynamics, friendship, and camaraderie. I represented my school in ACSIS/FAS matches and played internationally for JSSL across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Sweden. Soccer and captaincy fostered leadership, teamwork, resilience, and communication, shaping me into an adaptable individual ready for diverse life challenges.

Amalgamation

Balancing my commitment to the IBDP program and sports, I adeptly integrated them. My dedication shone through in my Extended Essay, intertwining soccer and physics. Crafting a double pendulum from scratch, I meticulously replicated soccer’s intricate lower body mechanics. My Math IA showcased interdisciplinary learning as I used calculus to optimize a soccer kick’s launch angle and distance.

Future Endeavors

I aspire to perpetuate my commitment to harmonizing the domains of STEM and the humanities, recognizing the inherent synergy between them. Concurrently, I am dedicated to elevating my prowess in soccer, leveraging the lessons of teamwork and discipline it offers. My holistic objective encompasses sustained engagement in clubs, cultivating leadership, fostering creativity, and refining my eclectic identity. This journey is a tapestry woven with manifold experiences, aiming not only for personal growth but also to contribute meaningfully to the world around me.
